Dr. Sarah Fryd is a licensed New York State psychologist who sees private practice clients in Pleasantville, New York. She also works as a certified school psychologist in a local middle school.
Dr. Fryd specializes in the treatment of children, adolescents, and young adults facing a range of challenges, including anxiety disorders, mood disorders, school avoidance, and behavioral difficulties. She employs a cognitive behavioral (CBT) approach with a focus on relationship building and skill development. Dr. Fryd aims to fully understand her clients and their presenting problems and goals, providing tailored interventions to each unique individual. As appropriate, Dr. Fryd involves parents in the therapy process and provides parent training and support as needed. As a school psychologist, Dr. Fryd has a strong understanding of special education programs and consulting with schools to address and support children with emotional and behavioral concerns.
Dr. Fryd received her B.A. from Bucknell University, where she majored in Psychology and Education. She received her M.S. and Psy.D. in School Psychology from the Combined School-Clinical Child Psychology program at Ferkauf University.

Treatment will begin with a comprehensive initial interview and intake to determine the specific nature of the client's presenting difficulties. Treatment will involve relationship building and will then be tailored to meet the individual's needs. Depending on the presenting problem, treatment may involve skill building and acquisition, values and goal clarification and development, exposure to feared situations, or providing support for parents in setting limits and fostering healthier child-parent relationships.
